Will Elon Musk and company be boring for a big new hole under San Francisco?

That could happen if Salesforce Chief Executive Marc Benioff’s dreams come true. Oh, and if Tesla CEO Musk puts his Boring Company on the job.

On Tuesday, Benioff, whose company’s name adorns the new Salesforce Transit Center in San Francisco, tweeted directly to Musk about whether he could do something to help alleviate the traffic issues that plague the city.

“Elon @elonmusk can you & @boringcompany help us in San Francisco?” Benioff tweeted. “We will have a cool new transit center soon, but we need rapid transportation from Downtown to the Ocean, Marin Country, East Bay, San Jose, & LA. Bullet train too far away! Can you do it?”

Benioff’s tweet included a video that Musk had earlier sent out of what he said was the “disturbingly long” tunnel that the Boring Co. has dug under a section of Los Angeles, and which Musk said was “on track” for an opening party on Dec. 10. Musk and the Boring Co. are building the tunnel as part of an effort to create what they call a “Loop” system that will transport riders around the L.A. area at speeds of up to 150 miles per hour.

Now, anyone waiting for such a system around San Francisco shouldn’t hold their breath. The Boring Co. has not filed any plans to break ground or do anything close to starting a new tunnel project in the area.

But this is Elon Musk we are talking about, a man who has built electric cars, wants to colonize Mars, and has sold flamethrowers to the general public. Musk replied to Benioff that digging a hole to put in a super-fast transportation tunnel under San Francisco isn’t outside the realm of possibility.

“Sure, we can do it,” tweeted Musk.

And now, let the start of the Boring speculation begin.
