Former San Francisco 49ers center Jeremy Newberry has sold his Brentwood mansion and cherry farm for $3.5 million, about $1.5 million under the original asking price of $4.98 million.
At the time Newberry put the property on the market in November much of California was in the most restrictive purple tier, and he told TMZ that he wanted to leave because he thought the state’s COVID-19 protocols were too strict.
The property includes a 4,300-square-foot house with five bedrooms and six bathrooms; it features a master suite with a heated-floor bathroom, a gym, game room and pool, among many other amenities. The property also touts a 40-acre cherry farm, with 12 acres of mature cherry trees and 23 acres of newly planted trees, as well as a 7,200-square-foot shop to help process the fruit.
Newberry was eyeing a move to Idaho, according to the report. He felt that more schools were open there and youth sports and activities were happening.
Newberry purchased the estate in 2019. Deneen Vornhagen with Delta Ranches & Homes was the most recent listing agent.
The two-time Pro Bowl center grew up in nearby Antioch and starred for Antioch High. Newberry played for eight seasons with the 49ers and later for the Raiders for one season. He currently works as an NFL analyst.
