A modest San Jose house has sold for almost $1 million over its original asking price as real estate prices continue to stay hot in the area. The ranch-style home was listed for $1.875 million in early December and received an offer after just one day on the market. The house eventually sold for $2.85 million.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom house is 1,296 square feet. It features dual-pane windows, new vinyl tile flooring and updated lighting. It also boasts a spacious backyard; the property sits on a sizable 6,009-square-foot lot, which could easily accommodate expansion or rebuilding.
The property stayed with a single family for an extended period of time, according to the listing; it was originally purchased in 1972 for $30,500. Sheryl Shigemasa and Elise Erwin with Century21 Real Estate Alliance were the listing agents.
The house’s location undoubtedly added to its appeal. It is situated near downtown Cupertino, Apple headquarters, Santana Row, Westfield Valley Fair mall and many other amenities. In fact, the West San Jose area has a median home sale price of $2.025 million — a 19.7 percent increase over the past year, according to Redfin.
