More than $200,000 worth of stolen Lululemon leggings was found in a La Habra apartment after California Highway Patrol officers served a search warrant last week, authorities said.
Investigators with the CHP’s Organized Retail Crime Taskforce were alerted to three large boxes containing Lululemon merchandise, June 6, officials said. The boxes were being shipped from Ohio to the apartment complex.
Officers intercepted the packages and delivered them to the address themselves, the CHP said. While delivering the packages, investigators noticed several other similar boxes and obtained a search warrant.
In all, 16 boxes containing 1,861 stolen items were recovered from inside the apartment, according to the CHP. Investigators said the merchandise was stolen from several locations, including stores in Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin.
Lululemon representatives told officers the number of stolen items recovered was the largest in the company’s history, the CHP said.
Whether any of the apartment residents were arrested was not immediately disclosed. It wasn’t known how many residents were at the apartment when officers arrived to deliver the packages.
They told officers they had no idea what the boxes contained, according to the CHP.
The CHP’s Organized Retail Crime Taskforce, based out of the agency’s Border Division, works with retailers statewide to thwart organized groups who systematically burglarize retail stores.
