San Jose firefighters on Wednesday evening were battling a fire in a commercial building a few blocks from their department’s training center.
Firefighters responded just after 3 p.m. to the two-alarm blaze in a single-story commercial building in the 900 block of Park Avenue, in the Sunol-Midtown neighborhood about a mile southwest of downtown San Jose, the city’s fire department tweeted.
By just before 5 p.m., fire crews had confined the fire to the section of the building where it started, a vacant business space, and were working to put it out, the department said.
The fire sent smoke billowing across the city to the southeast.
By just after 6 p.m., the fire was under control, according to the department. The cause was under investigation, the department said.
No injuries were reported.
