THE GAME: The Cincinnati Reds scored four times in the first three innings and beat the Dodgers 6-2 on Monday afternoon at Goodyear (Ariz.) Park.

PITCHING REPORT: David Price made his first start of the spring and had an extended first inning. Four of the first six Reds batters reached base – a walk, a wind-aided double and two singles – and two scored. After a strikeout and a walk to start the second inning, Price had reached his pitch count (40) and was pulled from the game. … Julio Urias didn’t make it through a full inning in his first appearance of the spring. An error, a walk, a single and a sacrifice fly brought in two runs with two outs before Urias was pulled for pitch-count reasons. … Pitching prospect Josiah Gray couldn’t finish his inning either. Gray retired just one of four batters in the fifth inning, giving up two singles and hitting a batter (leading to two Reds runs).

HITTING REPORT: Matt Beaty was off to a slow start this spring with just one hit in his first 10 Cactus League at-bats. But he homered in his first at-bat against the Reds on Monday. … Mookie Betts was 1 for 3 with a double, his first extra-base hit of the spring. He is batting .313 (5 for 16). … Will Smith was off to a 1-for-13 start this spring, so Dave Roberts started the young catcher at DH on Monday to get him some more at-bats. Smith was 1 for 3 with a single.

UP NEXT: The Dodgers are off Tuesday.
