Anthropic Seeks $900B Valuation, Revenue Still Loading

The company is asking investors to commit within 48 hours to a valuation that assumes profitability is merely a suggestion.

Anthropic is asking investors to submit allocation requests within 48 hours for a potential fundraise that could value the AI company at $900 billion or more. Two weeks to close. One question: what revenue figure justifies this number? The company has declined to disclose any. But why let details like "money the business actually makes" slow down momentum?

For context, this values Anthropic at roughly 3x Nvidia's 2023 revenue—the company that literally sells the chips Anthropic runs on. It's also approximately the GDP of Mexico, a nation with 130 million people who generate actual economic activity. Anthropic generates... really impressive demo videos and a chatbot that won't tell you how to make bioweapons. Surely that's worth a $900 billion bet placed on a 48-hour deadline.

The mechanics are delicious: investors get 14 days to close, but only 48 hours to decide how much they want to lose at this valuation. It's the financial equivalent of a flash sale on a product with no price tag. The urgency is palpable, the justification less so. Nothing says "we're confident in this valuation" like forcing LPs to make nine-figure decisions before the weekend.

By next month, either Anthropic will have raised another few billion at an insane multiple, or this round will quietly disappear from press releases. The only certainty: someone's checking their cap table and wondering when "pre-revenue" became a feature, not a bug.
