No market validation required. Just some very serious men and women with very serious funding telling us that the most consequential technological transition in human history is not coming, but here, now, in real time. One presumes they announced this via a press release that took seventeen attempts to write because their AI assistant kept suggesting better ways to phrase it.
The singularity thesis rests on a characteristically clean narrative: machines have crossed a threshold. They are now capable of self-improvement at exponential rates. Humanity has entered a new era. What's remarkable about this claim is not its boldness—it's the casual confidence with which it's being made by the same architects whose models hallucinate with the consistency of a Vegas drunk, whose training data requires more electricity than small nations consume, and whose systems still require human feedback loops to avoid generating toxic output. What this moment actually reveals about American venture capital is more interesting than any singularity claim: we have created a system where the most impressive technological developments are immediately conscripted into the service of existential proclamations because incremental excellence doesn't justify the fund sizes, the valuations, or the board seats.
